Who Is a Candidate
- Selected patients with peritoneal spread from ovarian, colorectal, appendiceal or gastric cancer
- Patients with disease confined enough for complete cytoreduction to be realistic
- Patients for whom PIPAC may help control symptoms or disease when CRS-HIPEC is not suitable
The Treatment Journey
01
Evaluation
Imaging and, where needed, diagnostic laparoscopy to assess peritoneal disease extent.
02
Multidisciplinary review
A tumour board discussion confirms candidacy for CRS-HIPEC or PIPAC.
03
Surgery
Cytoreductive surgery removes visible disease, followed by heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy where indicated.
04
Recovery & follow-up
A structured recovery plan with monitoring for recurrence.
Benefits & Limitations
CRS-HIPEC is a major undertaking suited to carefully selected patients; PIPAC is a less invasive, repeatable option for a different group of patients. An honest evaluation determines which — if either — applies.
